Clinical Nutrition

 The Department of Clinical Nutrition of the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine was established in August 2015, and is currently the nutritional treatment center integrating medicine, teaching and research. The consultant of the department is Prof. Zhang Aizhen, who has served as the chairman of the Endocrine Branch of Zhejiang Medical Association, the vice chairman of Zhejiang Nutrition Society, and the chairman of Maternal and Child Nutrition Committee.There are 4 nutrition professionals in the department, including 3 nutrition physicians and 1nutritionist.

The scope of treatment of the department includes nutrition risk screening, nutrition assessment, nutrition treatment and nutrition education for all outpatients and hospitalized patients. The program is based on patients' conditions, nutritional status and nutritional needs. Nutritional counseling clinics are opened for the public to provide nutritional counseling for people with special nutritional needs (children, adolescents, pregnant women, middle-aged and elderly people, overweight/obese people,etc.). For hospitalized patients, the department undertakes nutrition consultation for difficult and critical patients.

The department is continuously committed to the development and construction of the specialty, the department carries out the specialty medical technology:

1. Medical nutritional weight management

For obese people, body composition analysis and testing, combined with individual differences to develop a professional medical weight loss program.

The nutritionist will supervise and manage the diet and weight change in the whole process and adjust the program according to the weight change in a timely manner, so as to achieve the purpose of scientific, safe and effective fat reduction. For four consecutive years, the Nutrition Department of the Fourth Hospital of Zhejiang University has been recognized as "Medical Nutrition and Weight Reduction".

2. Having 100,000-class purified enteral nutrition configuration room

The first enteral nutrition preparation room of 100,000-class purified in central of Zhejiang which is constructed according to the national standard and formally operated.

Nutrition preparation room. It is centrally managed and prepared under the monitoring of safety system, and is committed to providing one-stop personalized full nutrition management services for outpatients and inpatients.

3. Standardizing and guiding the use of clinical enteral and parenteral nutrition preparations

Determining the three major nutrients, micronutrients and special nutrient requirements according to the nutritional status of the patient.Formulate the prescription of all-in-one parenteral nutrition or enteral nutrition preparation to achieve standardized nutrition management.

 

4. Participate in multidisciplinary team building

As a member of the accelerated rehabilitation clinical nutritional therapy team, the patient's preoperative and postoperative nutritional management should be utilized.

The clinical nutrition team of Zhejiang University Fourth Hospital will continue to uphold the service concept of "all patient-oriented" to provide professional nutritional services for patients and promote nutritional recovery.
