The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Fourth Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, was established in October, 2014,a key medical discipline in Jinhua City. It is a member unit of the Collaborative Innovation Network of the National Clinical Medical Research Center for Obstetrics and Gynecology, a leading unit of the Zhejiang Western Obstetrics and Gynecology Alliance, and a training base of national gynecological endoscopy as well.

The department is a clinical key discipline that integrates medical treatment, teaching and scientific research. Prof.WeiguoLv, the leader of the discipline, is a nationally renowned oncologist. There are a total of 36 doctors and nurses in the department, including 18 gynecologists with master's degrees or above. There are five chief gynecologists, two deputy chief gynecologists, and two doctoral supervisors. All clinical backbone doctors have further education experience in international well-known medical centers. The discipline mainly relies on the Women’s Hospital,Zhejiang University School of Medicine. More than ten well-known gynecological experts in the province have long-term cooperation with our hospital. In 2021, the discipline was approved as a national standardized training base for resident physicians of obstetrics and gynecology, and also haveundertaken the teaching work of master's, doctoral, and undergraduate students at Zhejiang University. The members of the discipline have served as principal investigators or main participants in nearly ten national and provincial scientific research projects. Since it established, more than 50 high-level research papers have been published, with one paper havingthe highest impact factor reaching 20 points.

The discipline has always implemented thetenet of"patient-centered, quality-centered" diagnostic and treatment, forming a minimally invasive characteristic technology with functional protection as the core, and providing women's health services with superb diagnostic and treatment technology. This discipline has a wide range of diagnosis and treatment diseases, and novel technical characteristics. It has a day surgery center, a hysteroscopy center characterized in cold knife technology, anda center of uterine fibroids for the diagnosis and treatment center with a full range of solutions. It carries out standardized routine medical projects and innovatively develops multiple"first cases in centralZhejiang". The hysteroscopic cold-knife technology, full-life cycle of diagnosis and treatment services for uterine fibroids, diagnosis and treatment capabilities of gynecological malignant tumors and complex pelvic floor diseases benchmark the leading level at China and abroad. It has achieved outstanding results in gynecological minimally invasive technology with rapid recovery mode and fertility protection as the core. It aims to build an innovative surgical research and development center based on anatomy, as well as clinical research center, leading the development of gynecological technology in centralZhejiang Province.
